In 1969 the American singer performed on stage at the Woodstock Music Festival, instantly launching her lengthy music career. 

In March she will relive the magic as the Port Fairy Folk Festival celebrates the 50th anniversary of Woodstock with a recreation of the musical line up.

Fairy Tale of Port Fairy, Woodstock 50 Years in the Making will see Melanie play Brand New Key and Lay Down (Candles in the Rain)  to crowds at the three day festival, her only Australian appearance.

Melanie said the folk festival had caught her eye some time ago.

“For years people have been asking me ‘Are you going to do Port Fairy?”, she said.

“This is the year I can say YES.”
