Warrnambool City Council’s visitor economy manager Dave McMahon said it was a great announcement for Warrnambool.
He said it had been a challenge to negotiate to get the world-class attraction to the city.
It is the first time it will visit a regional city in Victoria.
“Having 30 of these magnificent dinosaurs in town will certainly increase visitation,” he said.
“It gives the thousands of visitors who will already be here in Warrnambool something to do. Warrnambool is certainly going to be on the map these summer holidays.”
Warrnambool City Council mayor Tony Herbert said the exhibition coming to the city was a real coup for its holiday events calendar.
“This is so exciting and Warrnambool is thrilled to be playing host to this great show,” he said.
Jurassic Creatures will support the Warrnambool Kiwanis Club, which helps south-west children in need.
Representative Ann Boyle said the club would partner with the Warrnambool Special Developmental School to deliver a project for its new school on Wollaston Road.
A portion of every ticket sold will go to Kiwanis.
The exhibition will run until January 27.
