The teenage wingman will play for former Port Adelaide mentor Mark ‘Choco’ Williams in 2019 after signing a contract extension with the VFL club.
Gray, 19, is confident he will build on his seven-game tally under the ex-Greater Western Sydney assistant and Richmond development coach.
“He has a lot of experience and I have heard ‘Choco’ is one for developing young players,” he said.
“I have met with him and he talked about (Brownlow Medallist) Dustin Martin and how he developed him, so I am excited to learn off him.”
Gray, who was the youngest on Werribee’s list last season, expects to play as a wingman.
The soon-to-be university student – he took a gap year in 2018 – has high hopes for his football future and has taken inspiration from former Tiger teammates Josh Corbett and Sam Collins.
Corbett, who hails from Hampden club North Warrnambool Eagles, and Collins have joined Gold Coast Suns as mature-age concessions.
“It’s still my ultimate goal to make the top level and at Werribee with the coaches and players we’ve got, there’s an opportunity to do that.”
