The annual awards provide an opportunity to recognise the people who make Warrnambool a great place to live and work.
Categories include Citizen of the Year, Young Citizen of the Year, Community Event of the Year and the Local Achiever Award. Warrnambool Australia Day advisory committee chair Bronwen Levett said the awards were a great way to acknowledge the efforts people made to make Warrnambool an attractive, caring city.
“Cities are enriched by the efforts of people who in their own time work to improve the well-being of those around them,” she said. “There are many passionate people in Warrnambool who do great things without seeking acknowledgement or financial reward.”
Nominees must be residents of Warrnambool with the exception of the Local Achiever Award which also accepts nominations of people who do not reside in Warrnambool, yet make a significant contribution to the city community. Nominations can be made online at www.yoursaywarrnambool.com.au and entries close on November 23.
