The weather has been far from summer-like but Warrnambool’s outdoor public pool is full with inviting water.
The 50-metre long pool at AquaZone will open for the new season on Saturday.
The aquatic centre is waiting for its upgraded slip and slide to arrive which will be 10 metres longer than previous.
AquaZone Service Manager Ray Smith said the longer slide would be faster.
“If you really enjoy the slide, you’re going to enjoy the extra 10 metres,” he said.
The 45-metre inflatable slip and slide will be ready in a couple of weeks.
Apart from the bigger slip and slide, Mr Smith is hoping for some hot weather during summer. “The outdoor pool is very weather dependent so we are looking forward to a couple of really hot days,” he said.
AquaZone’s 50 metre outdoor pool will be open until the second week of March next year. Mr Smith said staff had worked hard during the off-season to maintain the 55-year-old outdoor pool in preparation for this summer.
