Former Koroit under 18.5 coach Ben van de Camp will oversee a new-look Greater Western Victoria Rebels’ pre-season program for 40 promising Hampden-based players.

Ex-Warrnambool footballer Tim Hunt will run the under 16 intake which will also include 40 teenagers.

The sessions will cater for players in the Camperdown and Warrnambool regions in a change from recent seasons when they were split.

“The biggest difference we’re working on this year, at both under 18 and under 16 levels, is making it more individualised to enable the boys to focus and develop their strengths and focus on the areas they need to improve,” van de Camp said.

“We want to be more specific rather than focus on whole-of-squad stuff.”

Van de Camp will have experience at his disposal with former South Warrnambool coach Mat Buck and newly-appointed Roosters mentor Mat Battistello committed.

Current Hampden league players Jarrod Korewha (Koroit), Sam Cowling (Warrnambool), Dan Weymouth (Warrnambool) and Tait Niddrie (South Warrnambool) will also assist both age groups.

Ben Walsh, Aaron Sinnott and Luke McInerney will help too.

Both age groups will start pre-Christmas training blocks in Warrnambool on Monday.

The under 18s will train Mondays at Warrnambool College and Wednesdays at Deakin University.

The under 16s will train Mondays and Wednesdays at Emmanuel College.
