Jarrod McLean (Suplex City), Simon Ryan (Kednelly), Jane Baker (Goldie’s Fortune), Ken Elford (Red Sensation) and Aaron Purcell (Von Mystic) all led in winners at the Oaks Day meeting.
Geelong trainer Kathryn Darden and Mount Gambier’s Jenny Gow-Whyte were the other trainers who had winners.
McLean said Suplex City deserved his win in a maiden over 1200 metres.
“I’m glad he won,” McLean said.
“Suplex City deserved the victory.
“It’s a great result for his owners.
“He’s been unlucky in a few of his starts.”
Apprentice jockey Teo Nugent, who is apprenticed to Ciaron Maher and David Eustace, is establishing himself as a talented young hoop.
He took the riding honours, booting home three of the seven winners.
The former Brauer College student won on Kednelly, Red Sensation and Fox On The Run.
