Detective Senior Constable Wayne Ryan, of the Warrnambool police crime investigation unit, said police executed a search warrant at a property in Warrnambool’s Edwin Court on Monday.
He said several pieces of jewellery and old coins were seized.
The items include a gold chain with a mental triangle tag and a ‘Celebration of Education’ coin that was issued to all Australian school students in 1988.
Detective Senior Constable Ryan said a 25-year-old Warrnambool male was arrested for unrelated matters.
He said police were unable to locate the owners of the property.
“We believe the items are stolen and we are hoping to return them to their owners,” he said.
Police have released several images of the items seized.
Anyone with information should call Warrnambool police on 5560 1333 or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
