Warrnambool’s first Irish-themed pub is turning 21.
The Liebig Street haunt, named after the Seanchai Dundork in Ireland, was the brainchild of mates Roger Fitzgerald and Greg Kelly.
First opening its doors on Warrnambool Show day October 1997, the pub’s interior was a collection of bric-a-brac sourced directly from the pair’s ‘boy’s trip to Ireland’.
The venue has since added an upstairs function space and extended its weekend opening hours to 3am,
Current owners Matthew “Floss” McMahon and Josh O’Dowd have worked tirelessly to attract a regular crowd, introducing mid-week activities and themed-night events.
The duo are hoping Saturday’s birthday celebrations will attract former staff, family and drinkers to return and share an Irish tale or two until the wee hours.
