Detective Senior Constable Stuart Sims, of the Colac police crime investigation unit, said unknown offenders entered a Leahy Court property through an unlocked back door.
“They’ve entered the premises sometime after 11pm,” he said.
“They’ve taken the keys to two vehicles parked out the front and ransacked them.”
A woman’s handbag containing credit cards and money was stolen.
Detective Senior Constable Sims said a second vehicle parked across the road was broken into and rummaged through.
He said police were looking for anyone who might have seen something suspicious in the area overnight.
The incident comes after several homes were robbed and four cars stolen during a crime spree in Port Fairy on Monday.
Anyone with information is urged to call Colac police on 5232 8200 or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
