WARRNAMBOOL’S Geoff McLaren copped the news on the chin his star galloper Humidor is out for the spring with a suspensory injury following its third placing in the Cox Plate at Moonee Valley on Saturday.

McLaren and his good mate Peter ‘Cork’ Walsh race the Darren Weir-trained Humidor with a group of other owners.
“It’s really disappointing that Humidor will have a long spell but that’s racing,” he said. “Cork and I can’t really complain, we’ve had a tremendous run with Humidor for the past two years.
“He’s raced against Winx on four occasions and that has been a big thrill.
“Winx beat us on each occasion but it’s no disgrace to be beat by the best in the world. The early indications are Humidor will miss the feature races in the autumn, we’ve got out fingers crossed he’ll be back for next spring.”
Humidor was the early favourite for the $2 million Mackinnon Stakes at Flemington on November 10.
