TWO eager basketballers are raring to make their Warrnambool squad debuts this weekend.
Seth Beardsley and Reggie Mast will team up for the Seahawks’ under 14 division one side at the Warrnambool Seaside Junior Basketball Classic.
The duo, both 12, are in their first seasons in the representative program and will play for coach Tim Rantall.
Port Fairy-based Seth said it was “cool” to be part of the Seahawks’ organisation.
The Port Fairy Consolidated Primary School student has enjoyed the challenge.
“It’s been hard training and I am kind of just grateful to make it to the squad this year,” he said.
“I’ve been playing (basketball) since I was eight and kind of just went down to the courts one day and really enjoyed it.”
Reggie, who goes to Warrnambool’s St Joseph’s Primary School, said the under 14 Seahawks were well prepared for the two-day classic.
“It’s been fun, a lot of hard work and it’s going to be a fun weekend,” he said.
“We’ve been practicing a lot of five-on-five and getting ready for the games.”
Reggie said he was happy to be in the squad system after finding a passion for basketball at a young age.
“I started when I was in year 2, I started doing Aussie Hoops and I’ve just loved it ever since,” he said.
