Moyne Shire council will host the event, which includes face painting, children’s activities, live music and canapes from the soon-to-open The Wharf restaurant.
The takeaway arm of the business will be open for attendees to purchase fish and chips while overlooking the Moyne River.
There will be a historic boats display and photos from the Port Fairy Historical Society detailing the area’s development over the years.
Wannon MP Dan Tehan will officially open the $3.2 million building, which was completed in February, and will tour the new structure.
Mayor Mick Wolfe said it would be a great event. “It’s been a long time coming but I think everyone’s looking forward to it,” Cr Wolfe said.
“It’s a great opportunity for the community to come and celebrate another icon in Port Fairy.”
The opening begins at 2.45pm in Gipps Street.
