Thieves have broken into five motor vehicles parked at Warrnambool’s Deakin University campus overnight.

Detective Senior Constable Craig Wastell, of the Warrnambool police crime investigation unit, said unknown offenders smashed open the windows of a Nissan X-Trail, Kia Cerato, Holden Viva, Toyota Krugler and a Toyota Rav about 9pm on Monday.
He said property was stolen from inside the vehicles.
“Nothing substantial has been taken but uniform police are still investigating the incident and they will speak with the victim’s this morning," Senior Constable Wastell said.
“The vehicles were parked inside the campus. It is believed a silver Commodore was seen in the vicinity at the time of the incident.
“We wish to speak with anyone who might have seen the vehicle or anything else happening at the campus around that time last night.”
Senior Constable Wastell said it was a timely reminder to the community to not leave valuables in the car.
