The first day of the popular festival saw a record number of show bags sold and local emergency services acknowledged for their efforts during the St Patrick’s Day fires.
A breakfast was held in the main street in the morning, followed by two shows by children’s entertainer The Mik Maks.
Children enjoyed rides and jumping castles as well as a pop-up playground and the annual duck race.
Cobden Spring Festival committee member Nicole Morris said the day was a great success.
“We’ve had lots of people come out to support the town and the event,” she said.
“This year we had a lot of new events, one being the community concert at the recreation reserve.
“We’ve had a lot of really good support and we welcome everyone to get on board next year because we can only go bigger and better from here.”
The theme for this year’s Cobden Spring Festival was Spring, Regrowth and Community.
Ms Morris said during the street parade, local emergency services were recognised for their efforts during the St Patrick’s Day fires.
“We acknowledged particularly the CFA and SES, but also other emergency services, for their part in supporting this town and the region during the fires,” she said.
“It was also an opportunity to thank them and acknowledge them for all of the work that they do, because they are always here when we need them. The town and the surrounding areas really appreciate that.
“The parade was a way for everyday people to come out and be there and thank them for their efforts.”
Sunday will see a variety of food and market stalls, a pet parade, mini train rides, mini golf, Blundstone boot toss, and a motor show at Cobden Pioneer Park.
The Orchid Club will hold its annual spring show and the Cobden Technical School will host a colour blast fun run/walk.
The Cobden Spring Festival runs all weekend at various venues.
