Etana, trained by Ciaron Maher and David Eustace, defeated Be Instant by a head with Bertie Went Bang back in third place.
“It was a very good win by Etana,” Meech said.
“I think she’ll measure up to city class.
“Ciaron and David do a great job they’ll find another race for her.
“There’s plenty of upside to Etana. She’ll derive a lot of benefit from that outing.”
Meech joined forces with Maher-Eustace to win the opening race on the program on Magnum Opus.
The lightly-raced colt was having his fourth race start.
Meech’s other winner was Tamerett for Warrnambool trainer Symon Wilde.
