O’Donnell said the lightly-raced Rebellious Lord, who will be ridden by apprentice jockey Teo Nugent, deserved a change in luck when he runs in the 1700-metre race.
“I’m quietly confident he’ll run well,” the popular trainer said.
“Rebellious Lord was unlucky last time at Moonee Valley.
“He carried a big weight and looked the winner until the final stages. The claim for Teo is a bonus.
“He’s a good honest horse who has been unlucky during his career. He’s feeling really well after four runs from a spell, I wish I had stable full of horses like him. It’s a pretty good field.”
Warrnambool Racing Club racecourse manager Daniel Lumsden said the running rail for the eight-race program would be out five metres.
“We’ve rated the track a soft seven but with fine weather predicted for Friday the track should be ideal,” he said.
“It’s our first meeting for seven weeks. We had 12mls of rain on Wednesday night and 16mls for the week.”
The first race is scheduled to start at 2.10pm with the last race set down for 6.10pm.
