Hockley, a former Hampden league best and fairest winner, took the reins of the Tigers last season.
She said her continuing in the role was important for herself and the team.
"I think it is good for the team to do a second season to sort of carry some of the players over and the momentum," she said.
"The plans you put in place you can continue over and keep working on other areas. So two years is probably good, most coaches do two years.
Portland’s top team claimed the wooden spoon this year, something Hockley said she hoped to avoid in 2019.
“A few more wins would be good,” she said. "But now we look forward to preseason starting and us getting going."
Hockley will also mentor the Tigers’ 17 and under team.
The club has reappointed Michelle Finck as division one coach.
