Police said an unknown offender entered The Parade property through a window between Saturday and Sunday.
The occupant was not home.
A safe containing a large sum of money, jewellery, antique coins and important documents were stolen.
The homeowner’s son, who wished to remain anonymous, said the antiques belonged to his late father.
“Mum is pretty distraught,” he said.
“They’ve stolen a whole heap of dad’s old bank notes and stamps, jewellery and an old Rolex watch that was owned by our pop.
“It’s a lot of sentimental value, I couldn’t even imagine what mum is going through.”
Wedding rings belonging to the man’s parents were also taken.
He said the items stolen were worth more than $10,000.
Anyone with information should call Warrnambool police on 5560 1333 or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
