“Several of the 150mm mechanical anchors installed last Tuesday to secure the cover plates at the boat ramp pulled out of the concrete abutment,” he said.
“Our experienced contractor reported deterioration of the concrete around these anchor points.
“On Monday 200mm anchors were being glued into position to reattach the cover plates.
“This will be a short-term repair with more extensive works planned for the end of the month to coincide with favourable tides, subject to favourable seas.”
EARLIER: EMERGENCY repairs required after the Warrnambool harbour boat ramp was closed due to safety concerns have again come unstuck.
On Sunday part of the boat ramp was again off limits, cordoned off with large warning cones.
The boat ramp was closed last week, prompting emergency repairs after a three-part metal cover plate between the concrete abutment and the concrete boat ramp decking was ripped off.
The cover was replaced and the boat ramp open for the busy weekend with boat operators attracted by almost perfect sea conditions.
But, part of the cover was again ripped off by the relentless sea.
The Standard will put calls into Warrnambool City Council to try and find out what’s planned for the ramp.
The city council is expected to be busy in the near future.
Already $7 million has been allocated for the revamp of Reid Oval.
Mrs Britnell has an open cheque book to fix the long-running harbour saga and on Friday the Labor Party pledged $16.3 million for a new library and learning hub.
