The prestigious trophy visited Mount Leura’s base thanks to a Camperdown Turf Club push to help communities recovering from the St Patrick’s Day bush fires.
It joined rides, animal shows, face-painting, dog competitions, arts and crafts, showbags, treasure hunts, live music and an array of trade stalls featured at the annual event.
The show also featured an inaugural Dachshund Dash in which pint-sized pooches showcased their best outfits and raced to cross the finish line first.
As the sun shone on the Camperdown Showgrounds, visitors of all ages poured through the entry gates.
Camperdown Pastoral and Agricultural Society secretary Amanda Manifold said the show that began in 1872 had been blessed with a “fantastic day”.
“We’ve had thousands through the gate today,” she said. “The weather’s been very kind, we’ve had a record number of trade sites and great support from exhibitors.
“It’s a great start to spring show season. Once again we need to thank the local community for their support for an event that we hope we can continue to grow.
