Show secretary Amanda Manifold said Camperdown and district residents put a lot of effort into preparing their stock for Saturday’s event and it would be an opportunity to see what the locals had produced.
“It’s all about the animals this year,” she said. “Entries are coming in thick and fast. We’ve had an extraordinary interest in trade sites. We’ve got over 60 trade sites.”
Ms Manifold said there would be good food and music all day and the horse show would continue on Sunday.
She said children would be well catered for with a free Kids Zone which included face painting and other activities.
“It’s something for the kids without mum and dad having to put their hand in their pocket,” she said.
“There’ll also be dog jumping, show personality and the pet parade which is always well supported.
“We’ve also introduced the dachshund dash which might bring some more interest.”
Ms Manifold said people would also be able to get their photo taken with the Melbourne Cup during the lunch break.
“It’s going to be a good day out,” she said.
“The Camperdown Show kicks off the spring show season in the south-west.
“Hopefully we can open the season with a bang.”
The Show will start at 9am at the Camperdown Showgrounds.
