Mr Purcell negotiated State Government funding to upgrade and extend toilet and changeroom facilities at the club, add storage areas, a sick room and shade to the grounds.
"It's really great to deliver funding like this to the club on their 50th anniversary. The existing toilet area is very old and in desperate need of an upgrade, and there were no men’s toilets at all," he said.
The Macarthur Bowls Club is one of several community sports clubs that Mr Purcell has worked with to assist them in gaining much needed upgrades.
Others have included new netball facilities at the Koroit, the $7 million Reid Oval upgrade and works at the Port Fairy Bowls Club.
"Many of these small groups don't realise that funding is available or have access to the right people,” Mr Purcell said.
“They make do for so many years, but they really deserve these funds and it's their local MP's job to help them.
"Clubs like the Macarthur Bowls Club are what make our communities great and are an essential service for both young and old," he said.
