Carolyn Bell of Gymnastics Victoria, who watched on at Sunday’s South West Regional Gymnastics Championships, said she was impressed by the talent competing.
She said all gymnasts from the region should be aiming to one day make the Australian team.
"Hopefully there is a great chance," she said.
"We have got a new head coach at Australian gymnastics so he has made some changes to present more opportunities for kids like we are seeing today to take the next steps in competing at Commonwealth Games and Olympics and our high performance programs."
Bell said Gymnastics Victoria put made an extra effort to make sure regional towns like Warrnambool held and participated in events like the weekend’s championships.
"These championships are so important to these gymnasts because it gives them the opportunity to compete at our state championships so we get gymnasts from all over the state," she said.
"It is great to get along and encourage these kids to try out for our state championships because otherwise they might have been a bit put off or hesitant due to some of our stronger metro clubs."
