The Jetty Flat-based club will welcome 340 riders on Sunday – just six weeks out from the state championships.
Club vice-president Anthony Dowd said the classic was the ideal way to finetune for the three-day competition in November.
“This is one of our major events of the year,” he said.
“And it’s why we’ll have a lot of South Australians because in five weeks’ time we have the state titles here in Warrnambool.
“This is to get ready for it and iron out what we need to do.
“The track is looking really good.”
Dowd said the classic would start with practice on Saturday from 1pm to 4pm.
Competition racing will start at 10am Sunday.
“We’ve got a lot of riders from Adelaide, some out of Melbourne,” he said.
“They’re coming from all over the state. We’ve got about 15 locals.
“There’s a lot of new kids to the club and it will be their first big open meet.”
Dowd said many of the riders had competed in the school cup recently and were in strong form. The Victorian titles are on November 16-18.
“This is to get ready for it and iron out what we need to do. The track is looking really good.
