The Warrnambool and District Orchid Society show has been running for almost 30 years. President Murray Coverdale said entries were up on last year’s and it attracted exhibitors and attendees from across the region.
“People come for the wow factor,” he said. “Whether it’s the grand champion or one without a (winning) ticket somebody will like it.”
For growers, he said orchids became an obsession. “They’re a pretty forgiving plant. People think they’re hard to grow but it comes back to finding out what they need and going for it.”
The show’s on Saturday and Sunday from 10am at Our Lady Help of Christians Primary School Hall.
