The Rotary Club of Warrnambool East is hosting the City of Warrnambool Art Show at Warrnambool Primary School. The show will open on Friday night and go through to Sunday.
Rotary club president Maggie Dwyer said 96 artists have combined to create 336 paintings for the exhibition.
She said the volume of artists and works are up on last year.
A large number of new artists have also put forward works for what is the 26th installment of the show.
“The quality of the work is again really high, we are very fussy about what we put up on our walls,” Ms Dwyer said.
“We are thrilled with the entries we have received.
“It will be exciting for people to see the creations of established artists whose work they have seen before, and also to see pieces from artists they may never have seen before.
“The show is an annual event we are very proud of and one that has stood the test of time.”
Show winners will be announced on Friday night with Ballarat artist Jon Crawley the judge.
As well as judging, Crawley will be holding a demonstration at 1.30pm on Saturday.
Art lovers and aspiring artists can watch him create a water colour painting and ask questions along the way.
Money raised from the art show will go toward Let’s Talk, a local organisation aimed at breaking down the stigma attached with mental health.
Entry to the opening night on Friday is $20, which includes some drinks and finger food.
The price of admission on Saturday and Sunday is $5.
The show has become an important fixture on the Warrnambool art community calendar.
Last year’s show led to a record number of paintings, 51, being sold.
This equated to 16 per cent of art works on display, a figure almost twice the industry average.
