Fraud and extortion squad detectives charged the two men, aged 35 and 34, following their investigation.
The Standard reported on Tuesday about the incident, which saw an unconfirmed amount of money skimmed from unsuspecting victim’s accounts.
Police arrested the two men while they were travelling in a car along the Hume Highway near Benalla on Tuesday afternoon.
Investigators also seized skimming devices and an amount of cash which was found in the vehicle.
The arrests follow a number of alleged incidents in regional Victoria in recent months, notably in Heyfield, Paynesville, Warrnambool and Hamilton.
The two men from New South Wales have been charged with conspiracy to defraud.
They are set to appear at Melbourne County Court at a later date.
