Senior Sergeant Shane Keogh said a skimming device had been found on an ATM.

He said it was uncertain whether it was on the ATM at Gateway Plaza or in Warrnambool’s CBD.

“Over the weekend one was identified out at one of the branches at Bendigo Bank,” he said.

“Members of our community have been impacted.

“We are looking for anyone that has been impacted to contact Warrnambool police and report it, especially Bendigo Bank card users or anyone who may have used the ATM.”

Senior Sergeant Keogh said police became aware of the device on Sunday evening. 

“The bank contacted a member of the public and they have stopped that transaction,” he said.

“The bank got onto it really early, they have been great.”

He urged anyone who had used either of the ATMs to check their bank statements.

“Make sure there is nothing untoward,” he said.

“If there is something that sticks out, come and make a report.”

Senior Sergeant Keogh said the Melbourne fraud squad would be investigating the incident.

He said one customer had $400 skimmed from their account.
