Bookmakers slashed Night’s Watch’s price for the Caulfield Cup from $13 into $8 following his win over Rising Red and Odeon.
Weir’s Warrnambool satellite stable foreman Jarrod McLean said a final decision regarding Night’s Watch running in the Caulfield Cup will be made by Victoria’s leading trainer.
“Night’s Watch will run in the Caulfield Stakes on October 13 and a decision will be made after that race about a possible start in the Caulfield Cup,” he said.
Kings Will Dream, trained at Weir’s Warrnambool stable, is the $4.50 favourite for the Caulfield Cup to be run on October 20. Imported galloper Al Galayel won his second race from five starts for Ciaron Maher and David Eustace, winning a restricted race over 1800 metres at Caulfield. “We’ll just try and find similar types of races for him over the spring carnival,” Maher said.
