The TAC Cup-listed footballer, who spent most of the year playing with Greater Western Victoria Rebels, did just that on Saturday when he became a Hampden league premiership player.
Chatfield, 18, joined Alex Pulling, Daniel Roache and Todd White in winning their first senior flags with the powerhouse club.
“As I did say throughout the year in another interview, I did want to finish the year off with the Saints and I’ve done it successfully, so I’m pretty happy,” he said on Reid Oval after Koroit’s 11-point win grand final win over Camperdown.
The strong-marking Chatfield played a mixture of key forward and key back during his six seniors games.
“(Coach) Chris (McLaren) put a bit of faith in me and I didn’t want to let him down so I just tried to play my role as the game went on,” he said.
