But six years and one failed attempt in 2013 later they are the Hampden division one champions after defeating Port Fairy in a 31-29 thriller on Saturday.
Bombers playing coach Natalie Tongs was delighted with the victory after the final siren.
“I’m in disbelief to be honest,” the goal attack said.
“I’m really excited and we worked so hard for that and I am really proud of our girls we just played like we have all season and played for each other.”
Helene Foster was named best on court for her staring role in the centre.
“We knew that we put in a lot of work on our fitness this year,” she said of the Bombers’ ability to fight their way back into the contest after it was tied at the final break.
“We knew we had it in our tanks to be able to run the game out and we were out there playing for one another and we just trusted in that and kept going.”
Port Fairy had beaten the Bombers twice in the regular season but come finals the ascendancy was in the hands of Tongs and her troops.
“We got fitter as the year went on and we combined better as a group,” she said.
“We also changed some positions to be able to get the side that we have now to what it was and the last two finals game we have payed great.”
It was the second year in a row that the Seagulls had fallen short at the final game of the season.
