Some teams are most dangerous when the odds are stacked against them.
Koroit proved this on Saturday when it defeated the highly-fancied Port Fairy to claim the 15 and under premiership, 35 to 25.
Coach Danielle McInerney said she was rapt that her young side decided to beat the Seagulls when it counted most.
"Our girls were probably the underdogs going in today," she said.
"We hadn't beaten Port Fairy the last three times we had played them.
"They played really well the last three weeks leading up to finals so I knew if they just continued that then we had a chance against Port Fairy.
"And we knew that we could win if we worked really hard, and from the first quarter the girls just played really good netball and safe netball which got us over the line."
McInerney revealed that her team started training twice a week for close to the past two months, as it knew it had to do extra work to match it with the other top teams.
Though she said it was a change in mindset that proved to be the real key in winning the premiership.
“It was more about that we had nothing to lose," she said.
"So we talked to the girls and the girls knew they could win as the previous games had been quite close.
"And just with the kids talking to them about that it is OK whether win lose or draw that they had done so well to get there.
"So it is (only) a game of netball and put it into perspective for them and they were really good."
