Hoy is among a large group of owners who race the Symon Wilde trained Royal Applause in partnership. The six-year-old finished down the track at her first-up run at Caulfield on September 1.
Wilde said Hoy has more pressing matters on his mind than how Royal Applause runs in the $120,000 race.
“I would say Liam will only give a passing interest into how Royal Applause runs,” Wilde said. “Liam is very focused on his footy. He’s a very good footballer and a top bloke it’s not every day that you get the chance to play in a grand final.
“We’ve got a lot of stable clients who are linked to the Koroit Football Netball Club I hope they go well in their attempt to win five in a row. I think Royal Applause will need another couple of runs before she’s at her top. A race like the Donald Cup later in the spring may suit Royal Applause.”
Darren Weir’s powerful Warrnambool satellite stable has a strong presence at Caulfield on Saturday.
Land Of Plenty and Peaceful State line up in the $500,000 Rupert Clarke Stakes for the Warrnambool yard while promising stayer Night’s Watch has the services of top jockey Damian Lane in the Foundation Cup.
