The centre, which is ran by the Worn Gundidj Aboriginal Cooperative, has been refurbished thanks to $90,000 state government funding.
Worn Gundidj tourism manager Terry O’Keefe said the overhaul was overdue.
“We pretty much gutted the building and put in some custom-made shelving for new displays,” Mr O’Keefe said. “We want to make the centre more user friendly and accessible.
“The focus is on Tower Hill’s nature, geology and wildlife.”
The visitor centre was built in 1969 and has been under the management of the Worn Gundidj Aboriginal Cooperative since 2003.
