The south-west’s football governing body distributed its draft recommendations for its junior review, which focuses on football for under 12 to 18.5 levels, and has given clubs until October 5 to consult with key members on the recommendations and provide feedback.
“I feel confident the reviewed recommendations are a positive step for the region, substantially improving the future sustainability of local clubs, and I’m looking forward to seeing what feedback clubs submit,” AFL WD commission chair Gerard Lucas said in a release on Wednesday.
The draft recommendations cover significant topics of permits between the leagues, on-field numbers, age groups and playing caps. It also addresses support that could be handed to clubs for junior coaches and an audit of umpiring recruitment and member retention.
The Hampden league clubs opted to forgo one-on-one meetings and work together to achieve the best junior football review result.
The final recommendations are due to be released on October 19, after it was pushed back from its initial date of September 30.
