The 32-year-old has been named senior coach of Colac and District leage club Lorne, ending his time with the Seagulls after four seasons.

“I am disappointed we didn’t make the grand final this year and sad that I don’t get to play with those blokes again,” he said.

“A flag would have been nice, not so much for me but more for the club, there’s a lot of boys who have been through some trying times there.

“But two prelims and a grand final in the last three years they are definitely there abouts, and I’m sure some silverware is not to far away.”

Hollmer, who finished runner-up in last year’s Maskell Medal, said overall he was content with what he had achieved.

“I’m happy that I could help Port Fairy from winning only a couple of games in the first year I came down to where they are now as one of the top teams in the comp,” he said.

“Coming down from VFL there is always a big expectation to perform well and I guess I always put a lot of pressure on myself to perform well.

“The club looked after me and I guess I didn’t want to let them down, so I hope I leave with a good rep.”

The former VFL player said he was excited to head home to Lorne and start his coaching career.

“Public speaking is probably not my strongest point,” he said.

“But I think I’ve picked up enough knowledge of the game over the years to hopefully put together a game plan that works.

“And I also hope I can drag a few blokes I’ve played with over the past decade to come down for a kick.”
