Jacob and Luke Mahony, Fraser, Eddie and Charlie Lucas, Billy and Riley Arnold and Lachlan and Josh Bone were regular contributors throughout the Hampden league home and away season.

The Mahony and Lucas siblings will feature in the Magpies’ grand final side to face Koroit at Reid Oval on Saturday.

Lachlan Bone and Riley Arnold will represent their families on the big stage.

Injury at the wrong time of the year conspired against Billy Arnold, who is battling a quad strain.

Josh Bone last played in round 18.

Fraser Lucas, 25, said the Magpies prided themselves on being family-orientated.

“I think it’s a good thing for the club,” he said.

“Those family ties are really tight around the town and it shows with everybody playing their footy together.

“We are wanting each other to do the best they can and achieve the best they can.”

Fraser admitted getting caught up in the game made it hard to gauge how his younger brothers were faring. But he said some special moments did stand out.

“I think one game against North Warrnambool we won by two points and I think part of the reason was Charlie kicked two goals in the space of about two minutes from outside 50 that turned the game,” Fraser said.

“And one that really stands out the back of my mind is Eddie’s banana (goal) in that qualifying final.”

Fraser returned to Leura Oval this season after a stint in the strong Ovens and Murray league, while Luke Mahony and Nick Bateman also came back after time away.

“The amount of hard work the guys have put in along with Phil (Carse) over the past three years while we were away has really started to pay off and we’ve jumped in at the right time,” Fraser said.

“I guess what we’ve put in has probably helped them go that next level just in terms of our leadership and playing elsewhere.”
