Davis announced she would not be part of the Hampden league’s executive after being awarded league life membership on Sunday for outstanding service.
She said felt mixed emotions after being involved for more than two decades.
"It would be way too hard to step away completely," she said.
"I think I went on my first committee when I was 19 back down in Melbourne, so I can't just totally step away.
"But I I will enjoy grand final day and then a little bit of a holiday. I will enjoy some free time and I will be around the courts this time next year probably.
"I will go and watch netball but won't have any commitment this time, I think that was the big thing, I just don't want a big commitment.”
Davis said she was not the only one in her household looking forward to her being netball-free.
"My husband will tell you he has been long-suffering, every weekend it is ‘off you go, I will see you when you get home’. But he is a very patient man,” she said.
"So there will be a few trips away, I have a big family in Melbourne and Allan has family in Melbourne. So if we want to pack up and go on a Friday or something we can do that now.”
The passionate Davis said although it felt like she had given her life to the Hampden league, she was confident she walked away better for it.
"Whatever you put in you get out double, that is my motto," she said.
"It has honestly been a privileged. I am totally honoured, totally honoured to receive recognition like this."
"You don't do what do you for recognition, but it is really nice."
