And the winner is sure to be charity.
Member for South West Coast Roma Britnell and Member for Polwarth Richard Riordan are having a $250 bet on their teams in the season decider - Mrs Britnell backing her electorate's Koroit while Mr Riordan is putting up coin for Camperdown.
The pair went head-to-head a fortnight ago when Mr Riordan’s Nirranda triumphed over Old Collegians in the Warrnambool and district league grand final.
Saturday’s bet is - the loser donates $250 to the charity of the winner's choice.
Mr Riordan will pay into the South West Community Foundation’s Koroit sub-fund or Ms Britnell will pay into the Colac sub-fund.
“We often have a friendly joke about who’s electorate is best, so this time we’ve decided to put our money where our mouth is,” Mrs Britnell said.
“It’s all a bit of fun and a novel way to support a local cause that does so much good in our community.
“I’m confident Richard will be paying up. Koroit has the runs on the board and is going for a record fifth consecutive premiership. We’ve been the best side all year and deserve the ultimate reward.”
Mr Riordan said another team was due to win the premiership and Camperdown had a live chance.
“Camperdown last won a premiership in 2000 under the guidance of current Port Adelaide Coach Ken Hinkley.
“The Magpies have been an improving side all year and I’m sure the Colac sub-fund is looking forward to receiving Roma’s $250.”
The South West Community Foundation is a philanthropic trust created by, and for, the people of south-west Victoria.
Established in 2007, the foundation’s mission is to “Foster a culture of philanthropy to strengthen the communities of south-west Victoria”.
The foundation provides small but vital grants to community organisations across the Warrnambool, Moyne, Glenelg, Southern Grampians, Corangamite and Colac Otway municipalities.
