The Hampden league grand final is the setting for the 11-time premiership player’s final open grade match on Saturday. 

Owen said Bowman was an inspiration.

“To be retiring and still dominating – she made the (league) team of the year and rightly so,” she said.

“She’s just so smart and still so fit and agile. Hopefully this premiership would be one of the most special ones because we’d like to give that to her as a way to retire.

“It will be very sad to see her finish up but I am hoping she is still involved in some way at the club. 

“She’s just a legend of the game and just to have her on your side is such a calming thing on the court.”

Owen, who will line up in defence in the decider against Cobden, said former coach Bowman was always teaching.

“She is just so smart at explaining things that I probably don’t notice from other teams week to week,” she said.
