North Warrnambool Eagles and South Warrnambool will contest the 17 and under grand final.

The two have met three times this season for one win each and a draw. 

They played each other for the first time in round eight and it was worth the wait, with a 37-37 draw the result.

The rematch came in round 18 with the Roosters winning 36-34.

The second semi-final brought with it a reversal in the result, with the Eagles this time winning by two goals.

The Roosters bounced back to beat Camperdown in the preliminary final to set up a classic grand final.

South Warrnambool coach Gill Herrmann said her girls were looking forward to the game.

“We are really happy we get to play another week and it’s always exciting to reach a grand final,” Herrmann said.

“We’ve got a really even spread of talent in our team, a good mix of top-age and younger girls.”

The top-age players include goalers Jess Hardiman and Charlotte Lenehan and defender Ella Thornton.

Herrmann will provide plenty of experience for her team to draw on.

This is her eighth season coaching the 17 and under team and it has been a successful reign, playing finals each season and winning two premierships.

The Eagles have been a powerhouse, winning four of the last seven flags, including the past two.
