Cobden coach Nadine McNamara has led the Bombers to their second decider – the first was in 1999 – after finishing atop the ladder.
The Bombers will face competition juggernaut Koroit which is aiming for its 10th senior flag.
“It is a total contrast to Koroit. They’ve had a lot of success,” she said.
“For us, we’re hoping it’s the start of something great.
“The vibe is really positive. We’re trying not to focus too much on the enormity of the opportunity considering it’s been 19 years since our last grand final appearance.”
The Colac-based McNamara said Cobden’s grand final appearance was years in the making with player retention vital.
“It is something we’ve been able to do over the past three years and build on it,” she said.
“In contrast to Koroit, Cobden is quite a small community. We don’t have the same drawing factors (Koroit does) from Warrnambool, so we have to maintain our juniors coming through and hope that our girls who move away for university and job commitments can make the travel back.”
Injured midcourter Sophie Barr, who shared the league best and fairest with McNamara on Sunday, is recovering from a hamstring injury.
She had physio on Monday and is expected to train on Thursday.
