The Allansford wingman has been rewarded for an outstanding season with victory in the Cats’ senior football best and fairest. It was the first time he has won the award.
After a tough 2017 that produced just two wins, Allansford racked up six wins this year and spent the early part of the season inside the Warrnambool and District league top five.
Wilson, 31, began his career at Allansford before moving to Western Australia for five years. He spent last season at Hampden league club North Warrnambool Eagles, playing in a reserves premiership, before returning to the Cats.
“It was probably my best year of footy and it was good to be able to help the younger players at the club,” Wilson said of his 2018 season.
“The club is certainly heading in the right direction.
“Ben Price (coach) has signed on again and he has a pretty clear process ticking along for the club to continue to build.”
Runner up to Wilson in the best and fairest was Travis Membrey.
The A grade netball best and fairest was won by Lena Wright with Georgia Martin second.
At its presentation night, the club also awarded life membership to Toby Holloway, Shaun Watson and Katie Monigatti.
