The Holden station wagon rolled about 60 metres down the hill on Rooneys Road before coming to rest in a culvert on Raglan Parade outside Callagahans Motors about 5.30pm.
Acting Sergeant Danny Wright, of Warrnambool police, said he was surprised that there were no collisions given that the vehicle rolled through four lanes of traffic.
“For whatever reason, whether it be just luck, it didn’t run into any cars,” Acting Sergeant Wright said.
“It could have ended really badly.”
The car had to be towed away.
Acting Sergeant Wright said it was unclear at this stage what caused the car to start rolling.
