Team success eluded her as the North Warrnambool Eagles fell one win short of a grand final berth.
But Sunday’s division one league best and fairest was the cherry on top of a great individual season.
“It has been a big year,” she said.
“I had the milestone of 200 games and now this, so yeah I still can’t believe it. It is a bit surreal at the moment.”
The defender was invited by the league earlier in the week, though said she did not think too much of it.
“They said they sort of invite the top few, but I wasn’t expecting to be standing here today. So it kind of hasn’t sunk in,” she said.
O’Meara credited her team for her individual accolade.
“I love all of the girls and we have stuck together for a while now and are a great group,” she said.
“I felt comfortable with who I was playing with and we are just a big unit out there at North.”
