Barr watched the Bombers’ 37-26 preliminary final win over Port Fairy on Saturday from the bench after injuring her hamstring at training. Cobden coach Nadine McNamara is hopeful Barr will line up against Koroit in the decider.
“She is doing all the right things at the moment – she’s icing, compressing and has got a physio appointment for on Monday in case we won so she’s doing all the right prep work, so we’ll see how she goes,” she said.
McNamara said the Bombers had the depth to cover Barr and erred on the side of caution against the Seagulls.
It paid off.
Cobden held a narrow one-goal lead in a see-sawing contest at half-time.
But it produced a decisive third quarter to edge four goals clear. That gave the Bombers momentum to run away in the last term at a windswept Friendly Societies’ Park.
“It is quite surreal at the moment, it probably hasn’t sunk in, it’s only been a couple of minutes since we walked off court but we’re really, really excited,” McNamara said of making the grand final.
“It means everything to us, not only the players but the volunteers and everyone at the club. It’s been a while since we’ve been able to represent our club in a grand final.”
Defender Remeny McCann and goalie Jaymie Finch shone for the Bombers.
