The school will launch a fund-raising campaign on Wednesday at the Lighthouse Theatre, with the much-needed cash to go towards essential equipment and services at its new Wollaston Road site, which is currently under construction.
School council president Jay Everall urged the community to dig deep to support the students.
Money raised will go towards constructing an oval, new playground and outdoor equipment, furniture, tree planting and orchard, therapy equipment, appliances and whitegoods, a first aid room, a multi-sensory room, fitness and PE equipment, a hands-on learning building and fit out, audio visual equipment for the auditorium, ICT infrastructure and resources and classroom materials.
“The kids have missed out for a long time,” Mr Everall said.
“This school will be the most magnificent thing for our kids. We are asking the community to help us out.”
Community strengthening committee chair Kylie Gaston said anyone could attend on Wednesday evening from 5.30pm, to learn about the campaign.
“It’s a wonderful opportunity for our region and our community to make this school a centre of excellence,” she said.
“We have teachers with masters degrees and families that give so much, and now we can build a community school that gives people a reason to move to our region.”
