Detective Senior Constable Roger McClure, of the Hamilton CIU, said the man was arrested on an outstanding charge of handling stolen goods.
He said a vehicle was intercepted on August 5 last year and the male and a co-accused were found with a backpack filled with items believed to be stolen from a property on Lodge Road in 2017.
The items included a chainsaw and a battery charger for a cordless drill.
Senior Constable McClure said an investigation had revealed more evidence that lead them to arresting the offender.
He said the man was charged and bailed to appear in Hamilton Magistrates Court on December 5.
