SHARON KENNA (CAMPERDOWN)
“Sophie Barr has been really good and with Cobden having such a good win/loss record, I think she will get enough votes to win. Carly Watson from Port Fairy will be up there again. Our two defenders, Emma Wright and Brooke Richardson, were fantastic and should poll well.”
NADINE MCNAMARA (COBDEN)
“Carly Watson has been so consistent for Port Fairy, she delivers every week. Brooke Richardson from Camperdown was really good both times we came up against them. Sophie Barr will poll well but we have been really even as a team so there will be a lot of players polling.”
MEL STARR (HAMILTON KANGAROOS)
“Sophie Barr really lifted that Cobden team. She can turn a game and is very clean in how she plays so that draws positive attention from the umpires. With our girls, Amanda Huf and Jess McCallum both had really strong seasons.”
JESS O’CONNOR (KOROIT)
“Sophie Barr is such a strong midcourt player, she is very competitive and skillful. Amy Wormald from Warnambool will also be right up there. We have had a lot of injuries during the year, our best chances would probably be Carly Pulling or Emily-Rose Finnigan.”
DOT JENKINS (NORTH WARRNAMBOOL EAGLES)
“I think Sophie Barr will win. The couple of times we played against her we thought we had her covered in one position but she was able to move to another position and really influence the game. Brooke Richardson has had a very good year and the perennial Jacqui Bowman has been excellent again. Our players missed too many games to poll enough to win.”
SARAH MCCORKELL (PORT FAIRY)
“Carly Watson has had a blinder every game, she is just so consistent and does things other players can’t. She gets from A to B so quick, you don’t even know how she got there. Jess O’Connor from Koroit is such a good goal keeper and Nell Mitchell has had a great season in goals.”
LAUREN HOCKLEY (PORTLAND)
“Sophie Barr controls the game for Cobden through the middle of the court so she looks like the winner. Carly Watson has won it before and she will go well again, she’s a very strong defender. I can’t see any of our girls winning it, we just didn’t have enough wins.”
MANDY VAN ROOY (SOUTH WARRNAMBOOL)
“It’s tough to pick a winner but I would say Sophie Barr will do well. Amy Wormald has been a standout for Warrnambool and Jess O’Connor is an absolute star so she will be right up there. Ally O’Connor will poll well for us and Eliza Dwyer has also had a great season.”
LISA ARUNDELL (TERANG MORTLAKE)
“I’d probably say Sophie Barr. Both times we played her she was best on court. She is such a strong link for Cobden between their defence and attack. She has great speed, change of pace and vision. Jess O’Connor will be up there again.”
RAEWYN POUMAKO (WARRNAMBOOL)
“I think it is going to be really close. A lot of teams will have players that will take votes from each other. Jess O’Connor is never beaten and is very smart and clean. Amy Wormald had a terrific season for us in goals and she will rake up some votes.”
